Blooming Orchids

Every girl needs a go-to first date outfit that is as comfortable as jeans and a tee and as sexy as a bondage dress and heels.

I'd been relying on a simple yet elegant black camisole with white jeans (and flats, always flats - it lets them know how tall you really are, and you're always ready for a spontaneous stroll after drinks), but had been craving a something similar in a happy, clear red (my favorite color).

Funny how dreams turn into reality: while browsing through my favorite DC secondhand store Secondi this past week, I came upon a strawberry red silk tank  with the perfect amount of drape and sex appeal. Finding it was emotional, really, just like this Diana Vreeland quote. Red is joyful and ravishing and hopeful, meaningful elements I'm trying to achieve through this look.

The white jeans stay in the mix, while jeweled flats from Target, a gold Loeffler Randall for Target clutch, and simple hoops add just enough sparkle.
